Holiday Care for Worm Systems
If you are going away over the festive season/holiday, remember to feed your worms ( you must cover the surface area of your system 1/2 an inch deep) before you leave and add shredded, newspaper, shredded cardboard (wet) and bleached grass cuttings (they MUST be bleached by the SUN) and mix into the compost in your system. Cover the top of the working unit with damp newspaper. Your wormery will be good for approximately 2 weeks. Ensure they are in a shady cool place (like your shower or bathroom – remember the variables i.e. weather/temperatures/humidity will effect them while you are away – so keep them in a regulated temperature).
Failing all of the above, if you are in my area l will babysit them for a fee.
